WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS: 

Session 1

Magical Gospel Messages (Master Class) – Steve Kissell
Gospel effects and object lessons for Sunday School Teachers and Children’s Church Leaders. This presentation emphasis surprises to enhance a children’s sermon, Vacation Bible School, Children’s Crusade or Gospel performance.

Session 2

Interactive Puppetry – Rhoades
This fun-filled class will show you how to incorporate live puppetry and human interaction into your performances. Plenty of ideas and examples will be found in the antics of “Puppets for the King.”

Magic & Storytelling – Steve Kissell
Share in the surprising delight of learning magical effects that will enlighten any session of storytelling. A wonderful visual way of teaching a lesson!

Dynamic Worship for Kids – Lenora Wilson & Stacy Smith
Learn how to create a genuine, dynamic worship experience fir kids. This session will teach you how to bring visitors back but also excite your regular kids (and parents too). Learn practical principles that will work in any ministry, plus go home with a bunch a great ideas!

Basic Ventriloquism – Varosky
You'll learn the secret of ventriloquism and basic ventriquial skills. If you already have a vent character make sure to bring it along! Diana takes the “mystery” out of vent!

Beginning Black Light – Rhonda Rudy & Joy Cleveland
Learn how to make your performance really "pop" with the use of black light. Equipment, materials, resources, props, scenery and black light puppets will be discussed.

Session 3

Teacher Teach Tips & Training – Lenora Wilson & Stacy Smith
Whether you teach Sunday School or home school, or just work with children, this workshop will give you lots of innovative ideas to enhance any lesson. This workshop will also help you to create relevant applications to kids’ everyday life.

Basic Puppetry and Beyond – Jill Harrington
You’re only as good as your technique! Learn the ins and outs of good puppetry.
Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned puppeteer you’ll benefit from this class. We’ll work on rod-arm and human-hand technique, staging, choreography and more.

Extreme Participation - Deb & Mark Miller
Gospel Clown Skits: There is no better way to teach the Bible than involving your audience! A sure fire way to make the message “stick.”

Private Vent Coaching Session – Diana Varosky
Special 1/2 hr. sessions will be available through-out the day for private coaching one-on-one with Diana! Must be pre-registered for session.

Developing Your Puppet Team with Discipleship – Susan Meeneghan

Session 4

How to be a great Emcee – Steve Kissell
Learn how to fill in between acts, introduce performers and how to properly prepare a site for a memorable program. Tips on selecting costumes and writing an effective presentation. This is a MUST class for anyone working in front of a group - whether it be clowning, puppetry, Children’s Church or Sunday School!

Interactive Puppetry, Part 2 – Lou and Kris Rhoades
More fun antics with “Puppets for the King!” Those of you that participated in Interactive Puppetry 1 will get the privilege of being “on stage” performing with the puppets! If you missed the first class you can still come and enjoy watching what transpires between puppets and humans!

Put Your Best Face Forward: Clown Make-up – Deb Miller (a.k.a. "Spitunia")
Calling all Christian Clowns into excellence.

Props, Scenery & the element of SURPRISE! – Rhonda Rudy & Joy Cleveland
A great philosopher once said: “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get!” In this class we will explore some ideas for bringing your props and scenery to life using the element of surprise. Learn how to keep your audience guessing.
